Garmans Field was the Lyme Regis Community Land Trust’s first completed housing project and remains a landmark achievement for community-led affordable housing in the town.
After several years of searching for a suitable site, the Trust identified land at the junction of Charmouth Road and Timber Hill and worked with local partners to develop a scheme that would provide affordable homes for local people with a connection to Lyme Regis.
The development delivered 15 affordable homes and demonstrated how local communities can play a leading role in addressing housing need. The project was developed in partnership with Yarlington Housing Group, Boon Brown Architects and local authorities.
In recognition of its success, Timber Hill won the People-Powered Homes Award at the National Community Land Trust Network Awards in 2018 https://www.communitylandtrusts.org.uk/about-clts/success-stories/.
Today, Garmans Field stands as a lasting example of what can be achieved when local people work together to create homes that meet the needs of their community.
